The world’s first all-electric light truck in series production the FUSO eCanter was revealed to Irish customers recently. The event was attended by Minister Denis Naughten who took a test drive in the electric eCanter.
Minister Naughten attended the launch and stated: “From a goods vehicle prospective, we are now beginning to see alternatives which would involve electric vehicles for lighter goods vehicles and for heavier good vehicles we have compressed biomethane and biogas. The FUSO eCanter electric vehicle truck is an exciting development as it can carry up to four and a half tonnes and this will undoubtedly transform emissions in cities across Ireland.”
Billy Riordan, CEO of Frank Keane Group, importers and distributors of FUSO trucks in Republic and Northern Ireland commented that the Frank Keane Group are delighted to be able to showcase the eCanter, the first full electric truck for the Irish Market. It is a significant environmental and technological step towards Ireland’s sustainable transport future and will be a great addition to the FUSO Canter range. We are looking forward to being able to support our customers in their progression towards reducing their environmental impact.
Gerard Rice, Managing Director of FUSO Ireland says: “The eCanter is the first pure electric truck available from a vehicle manufacturer, so we are proud to reveal the model today that will be available in Ireland. With the rapid rate of change in the regulatory environment in Europe, it is an essential product with FUSO at the forefront of e-mobility with a proven track record in hybrid and electric vehicle technology. The chassis cab payload on the 7.5t eCanter is 4.3 tonnes which is class leading, especially as a zero-emission vehicle with an electric range of 100km.”
FUSO Ireland has a network of dealers in the Republic and Northern Ireland with a range of Canter 3.5T to 8.55T trucks, including the Canter EcoHybrid.
